Widow of man killed in Yuba County road rage shooting pleads for justice

According to the CHP Valley Division, the shooting happened Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 70 near Plumas Lake Boulevard.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento mother and her three children are pleading for the public's help in finding the people responsible for shooting and killing 36-year-old Alejandro Escobar while he was on his way home from work.

"You guys killed an innocent man. You guys killed my husband. You guys killed the father of my kids," cried Alejandro's widow, Jesseida Escobar.

According to the California Highway Patrol Valley Division, the shooting happened Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 70 near Plumas Lake Boulevard.

Authorities say the vehicle Escobar was in got into some kind of altercation with a gold Ford Focus driving in the same direction.

"There was no reason to shoot that car. All he was doing was trying to come home to his kids," Escobar's 13-year-old daughter, Maria Texis.

Jesseida told ABC10 he was shot while he was sitting in the back seat of his nephew's car. Escobar and his two nephews were on their way to Sacramento from Chico.

Jesseida was working during the time of the incident and says she immediately rushed to meet with an officer, who told her what had happened.

"She told me that my nephews were OK. One of them didn't get shot, one of them did, and my husband didn't make it. That's when my heart broke down," she said.

Escobar leaves behind a 4-year-old son, 13-year-old daughter, and 16-year-old son.

"Whoever knows the people that killed my husband, whoever knows what happened – give the information to Yuba County so my husband can rest in peace and I can have justice," said Jesseida.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Office is still looking for three suspects.

Officials described the driver of the gold sedan as a white or Hispanic male with short brown hair. They're also looking for the two passengers, a white or Hispanic male with a ponytail, and a black male with braided hair.

If you have any information that can help authorities, please contact the Yuba County Sheriff's Office at (530) 749-7777. You can also call the anonymous tip line at 530-749-7930.
