ELK GROVE, Calif. — A loud boom sound kept some people awake in Elk Grove Saturday night and police now say they are looking into what caused it.
According to the Elk Grove Poice Department, calls started coming in reporting a "loud boom" noise around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
The sound could be heard from as far away as Wilton. Officers checked several areas across the city but weren't able to find the sound's origin.
"Here on social media, there are some rumors circulating that we located debris on a rooftop in one area of the city and a large hole in a retaining wall in another part of the city," the Elk Grove Police Department said in a social media post. "The report of debris found on the roof of a house was unfounded and the large hole in the retaining wall was not related and has been there for quite some time."
Police said that if more information develops, they will share it on social media.
