GRASS VALLEY, Calif. — Four people, including two seniors and two firefighters, were hurt during a fire in Grass Valley Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Grass Valley Fire Department, the blaze was reported around 1 p.m. at the Everhart Hotel along South Church Street. The building was built in the 1930s and was eventually turned into a senior living facility.
It's not clear what caused the fire.
Two seniors were hurt and taken to the hospital as a precaution with non-life-threatening injuries. Two firefighters also went to the hospital for heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation.
The building was evacuated due to the fire, but residents have been able to get access to the first, second and third floors. The fourth floor was placed off limits due to smoke and water damage.
Currently, all residents are without power due to an outage caused by the fire, but PG&E is expected to restore power soon.
