SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One woman was critically injured after a crash on Highway 160.

Officials with CHP-North Sacramento said a woman fell out of a car on HW-160 and was then hit by another car on the roadway. Sacramento Fire Department said the crash left her with critical injuries.

Authorities said she was sitting in the rear seat of the car when she fell out, however, it's not known why or how she fell out of the car.

Two vehicles were behind her when she fell out, but, while one was able to swerve out of the way and avoid hitting her, the second car did hit her. That car remained at the scene.

A portion of southbound HW-160 at Del Paso Boulevard was temporarily closed due to the incident, but the roadway has since been reopened.
