Large pile of tractor tires, farm equipment catch fire in Tracy

Crews arrived to find fire burning a large pile of tractor tires and farm equipment before it spread to some grass.

A tire fire is being mopped up after sparking in Tracy.

TRACY, Calif. — A big tire fire in Tracy was put out Monday afternoon following a half-hour fight from fire crews.

According to the South San Joaquin Fire Authority, the blaze was reported around 3 p.m. along the 16800 block of South Tracy Boulevard, near Finck Road.

Crews arrived to find fire burning a large pile of tractor tires and farm equipment before it spread to some grass. Officials said it was brought under control in about a half hour, but it also put up a big smoke column visible from far away.

Fire crews are currently mopping up the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
