Modesto's 145th Independence Day Parade and Festival | Need to know

The City of Modesto will come together once again to celebrate the Fourth of July with a parade and festival.

MODESTO, Calif. —

The Modesto Kiwanis Club is putting together Modesto's Independence Day Parade and Festival to celebrate the holiday on Thursday. 

The celebration will include a parade, live music and plenty of activities for children. D.J. Walker with KAT Country morning radio is playing host for the parade.

The parade will travel around 12 blocks through downtown Modesto with the grandstand located near Tenth Street Plaza.

Former American Idol contestant Ryan Hammond will perform the National Anthem.

After the parade is over, the festival will start in the Tenth Street Plaza. There will be live music, dance demonstrations, arts and crafts, vendors and face painting.

Where: The festival will be at the Tenth Street Plaza (1010 10th St., Modesto). Streets on the parade route will be blocked off around 8:30 a.m.

When: The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and the festival will follow at 11 a.m. 

Cost: The parade and festival are free.

Parking: The parking garages on 9th Street and 12th Street are good spots to park for the parade. The parking garage on 11th Street will be closed off after 8:30 a.m., due to the parade route.
