SACRAMENTO, Calif. — While fireworks can be pretty to look at, for our canine friends the loud booms can be pretty scary. Bradshaw Animal Shelter hopes a new volunteer program will help keep their animals calm during Fourth of July celebrations.
The animal shelter is asking people to volunteer to spend time with the dogs and provide comfort during all of the loud bang, boom and pops happening outside.
Volunteers will sit outside of the shelter dogs' cages and will be able to talk, sing, read or even play the guitar to help distract the scared or nervous dogs.
The shelter will be holding two "comfort sessions." The first will start at 7 p.m. and the second at 8 p.m. Both sessions will last about 90 minutes.

The county would save $110,000 dollars by getting rid of their community spay and neuter contracts.
