Fourth of July festivities are upon us, and now the temperatures are also something to celebrate.

SACRAMENTO, California — Pull out the barbecues, pool floats, and sunglasses because this fourth of July will see plenty of sunshine and nice weather in Northern California.

Fourth of July temperatures are expected to be a couple degrees below the average of 91 degrees. Independence Day will see temps around 89 degrees in Sacramento, 89 in Stockton, and 90 in Modesto.

An onshore flow of cool air is coming off of a low pressure system that is moving into the Pacific Northwest. That will bring a surge of cooler air along the cold front into Northern California.

That’s quite the contrast from last year. If you remember, we saw a massive cool down for the Fourth of July, with a high of only 77 degrees, thanks to our good friend, the Delta Breeze.

For reference, here are some Fourth of July temperatures over the last 10 years.

  • 2018: 77F
  • 2017: 93F
  • 2016: 86F
  • 2015: 100F
  • 2014: 95F
  • 2013: 109F
  • 2012: 92F
  • 2011: 101F
  • 2010: 99F
  • 2009: 86F

Evening Delta Breezes will cause cooling, with wind gusts between 10 - 20 miles per hour. But as we know, it can quickly turn dangerous. Make sure to have a bucket of water handy when handling barbecues, fireworks, and any other fire related activity.
