SACRAMENTO, Calif. — With Aftershock 2019 in the books, the Sacramento-based music festival is already looking ahead to next year.
Aftershock's Danny Wimmer Presents, which hosts Aftershock and other music festival throughout the U.S., announced Metallica is scheduled to play in 2020.
The rock icons won't just be in Sacramento in 2020, Metallica will headline five of Wimmer's U.S. rock festivals, performing two separate headlining sets at each event. The fests included are:
- Epicenter (May 1st-3rd) in Charlotte, North Carolina
- Welcome to Rockville (May 8th-10th) in Daytona Beach, Florida
- Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival (May 15th-17th) in Columbus, Ohio
- Louder Than Life (September 18th-20th) in Louisville, Kentucky
- Aftershock (October 9th-11th) in Sacramento, California.
After Aftershock 2020, Metallica is scheduled to play on Oct. 9 and 11. Tickets go on sale for next year's event at noon on Monday, Oct. 14.

Two packages would be available to prospective ticket buyers: general weekend admission and VIP weekend admission. Single-day tickets are not available for purchase at the moment.
- General admission: $249.50 (plus fees)
- VIP Tickets: $599.50 (plus fees)
If you who thought those prices are too high, Aftershock is also offering a layaway plan for tickets with an additional down payment of $20.

The Associated Press reported Metallica had to cancel its recent tour in Australia after the band announced James Field, the music group's frontman, entered in rehab. Metallica is playing only five different locations in North America, including in Sacramento, according to the Courier-Journal. The group is playing two nights in each city.
