2 dead, 4 injured in crash on Highway 50 in El Dorado County

The deadly crash happened near South Lake Tahoe on Thanksgiving night.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — Two people died and four others were injured in a head-on crash on Highway 50 near South Lake Tahoe Thursday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 5:30 p.m. east of Audrain Way.

CHP says a 2001 Toyota Sequoia going west and 2015 Chevrolet Traverse going east collided in the eastbound lane.

The driver of the Chevrolet, an unidentified 84-year-old man from Wellington, Nevada, and a 50-year-old woman from Fremont who was riding in the Sequoia both died from their injuries.

The driver of the Toyota had major injuries and three of his passengers had moderate injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the accident can call Officer Wester at the South Lake Tahoe CHP Office at 530-539-9500. The cause and events leading up to the accident are under investigation.
