Former UC Davis fire chief indicted on felony charges of misappropriation of public money

DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis' former fire chief is facing a felony charge on suspicion of misappropriating public money, according to the Yolo County District Attorney's Office

Nathan J. Trauernicht, 45, was indicted by a Yolo County Grand Jury on Dec. 5 for the alleged violation. He was arraigned on his felony charges Monday and is not in police custody on his own recognizance.

In a separate filed complaint, Meagan McFadden, another former UC Davis Fire Department employee, was also charged for misappropriation of public funds. 

Trauernicht is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Jan. 21 for a trial-setting conference. McFadden is set to appear in court for an arraignment on the same day.
