A new "Downtown Orangevale" sign will be unveiled on Saturday morning before the Pow Wow Days parade.
Some residents are already making fun of the town's new addition, joking that if you blink, you'll miss the couple of miles dubbed "downtown."
"To be honest, I feel like this is more of a car area, where you get your car done," said Janelle Enns. "Seems like an odd spot to put it."
Dee Angelika agrees. She even called it "silly."
A lot of Oranvegale residents are also poking fun of the new sign on Facebook. Some wondering if this is downtown Orangevale, then where is uptown?
But for Roberta MacGlashan, the county supervisor of this area, it's something new, exciting, and much-anticipated.
"It's a culmination of several years of effort," explained MacGlashan. "[A group called GLOVE, which stands for Greenback Lane Orangevale Envisions"] got together to come up with ideas to generate more business..this is just the very beginning of a street scape project.
The hope is that this project will not just bring more business, but also give Orangevale a stronger identity for those who live here and those who just pass by everyday. And when residents think about it that way, they start to like the idea a little more.
That might be a good reason. It does kind of bring people together," said Angelika, re-evaluating her earlier opinion that it is "silly."
