GRASS VALLEY, Calif. — A Grass Valley 2-year-old is recovering from a suspected fentanyl overdose, and his caregiver is now facing charges.
The sheriff’s office said someone called 911 Tuesday night to report a toddler was overdosing at a residence on the 12000 block of Rough and Ready Highway.
Medics and deputies arrived to find the child unresponsive and not breathing. The child was revived after Narcan was administered several times, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Detectives reported seeing narcotics and drug paraphernalia in view when responding to the home – including suspected fentanyl, suspected meth, pipes, syringes and Narcan. Some of the items were found on the floor.
The person responsible for the child, 33-year-old Taylor Anthony McGrath-Hiles, was arrested and booked on suspicion of child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McGrath-Hiles is still in custody.
