OAKDALE, Calif. — An Oakdale man faces life in prison after being found guilty of murdering the fiance of his ex-girlfriend with a samurai sword.
George Taylor Grass, who referred to himself as the “Oakdale Ninja," was arrested for the murder of Jackie King in August 2020.
According to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, Grass was upset King was engaged to his ex-girlfriend.
Officials say Grass confronted King at an Oakdale apartment complex while armed with a 3-foot-long sword, and proceeded to stab King to death.
The D.A. said arriving police officers saw Grass standing over King’s body, holding the sword, which led to an hour-long standoff. Both Oakdale police and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s SWAT team were involved in the standoff.
Grass was eventually taken into custody. His sentencing is scheduled for January 30, 2025.
