Northern California weekend forecast: Cold mornings with chilly afternoons

The pattern of cold mornings and chilly afternoons continues through this weekend, but otherwise there are no weather issues.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — After the coldest temps of the year so far on Thanksgiving morning, more cold mornings are ahead for Northern California through the weekend.

Saturday morning will see much of the valley in the middle 30s. Light fog is possible for some areas.

Additionally, frost is also possible in the Sacramento Valley, though the best opportunity for frost is in the Bay Area, where a Frost Advisory is posted until 9 a.m. Saturday for the North Bay, Napa and Sonoma Counties, and the East Bay toward Livermore.

The valley is expected to once again start in the 30s on Saturday morning with areas of fog and frost possible.

As has been the case recently, cold mornings give way to clear and chilly afternoons in the upper 50s and low 60s. This weekend will be no exception. Valley highs both Saturday and Sunday are expected to be between 58°-62°. This is at or a bit below average for late November/early December.

After a stretch of wet and snowy weather that continued through last weekend, this weekend will be a nice change of pace. Any weekend plans will have no adverse weather to contend with and roads across the Sierra will be in good shape. It's a great opportunity to head to the high country for some winter sports, or to stay in the valley and get a head start on holiday shopping.

The short term forecast is dry. It's likely this dry and seasonal stretch lasts about two weeks into December.
