A new name for the renovated area of Downtown Sacramento was announced this week: DOCO.
It's a play on the branded "Downtown Commons" title, used for the mixed-use project, which includes the Golden 1 Center.
In addition to the new sports center, the over three-acre sized DOCO area also includes 128,000 square feet of office space, 300,000 square feet of retail, a 250-room boutique hotel managed by Kimpton Hotels and up to 50 residential units.
"From world-class art and entertainment to innovative restaurants and retail, Downtown Commons will serve as Sacramento's cornerstone – its common ground," Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé said in a press release. "It's where neighbors, families and visitors will gather to share experiences year-round."
The Kings, along with San Francisco-based real estate investment company JMA Ventures, LLC, also announced the first DOCO tenants -- three resteraunts: Punch Bowl Social, Pour Society and Sauced BBQ and Spirits.
All three are the first locations for the Sacramento area, and Punch Bowl Social and Pour Society will be the first locations in California.
Punch Bowl Social is described as an "old school" entertainment place, where guests can partake in an ‘80s arcade, private karaoke rooms, foosball, marbles-tables, ski-ball and board games. It's also a restaurant and includes "a modern beverage program."
Pour Society will be a "modern interpretation of the classic American pub," with farm-to-fork ingredients.
This will be California's third Sauced BBQ and Spirits, following Livermore and Petaluma. The restaurant is said to have "an unmatched Southern charm and ambiance."
