Sacramento nightclub owner among 2 killed in gang shooting

Through the investigation, the sheriff's office said a group of gang members initially refused to leave at closing time.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The owner of a Sacramento nightclub was among two men killed in a gang-related shooting, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

While the names of the men haven't been released, the sheriff's office said one of the people owned Sacto By Night Lounge.

The sheriff's office said the double shooting started as a fight between a group of people leaving the nightclub in the 7100 block of Governor's Circle in South Sacramento as it was closing around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

Through the investigation, the sheriff's office said it was a group of gang members who initially refused to leave at closing time. Employees got all of the other people out of the venue. Then a fight between the gang members started in the parking lot. During the fight, at least one of the gang members shot two people who both died at the scene.

A white car left the area shortly after the shooting. California Highway Patrol Officers found the car and detained the people inside. The sheriff's office said the people who were detained were involved in the shooting and they recovered multiple guns. Once charges in the two people's deaths have been filed, the names of the people charged will be released.

The shooting is under investigation. Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
