The Sacramento Police Department released additional audio and video from the night Stephon Clark was shot and killed by police following protests that called for more transparency and accountability from authorities.
On March 18, Clark was shot by police after they believed he was holding a gun during a confrontation at night. It was later revealed Clark was holding a cell phone.
The material released consists of 23 in-car camera videos, 28 body-worn camera videos, two 9-1-1 audio files and the remaining video from the Sacramento Sheriff Department’s Helicopter. According to their press release, the time frame begins when the officers response and ends with the the Sacramento Fire Department declaring Clark dead.
Sacramento City Council policy states the police department release all video associated with "critical incident" within 30 days of the incident. For safety reasons, video and audio released Monday has been redacted to protect the privacy of those involved.
The first collection of videos were released within a week of Clark being killed.
