66-year-old killed in roll-over crash near Sonora

Police said the Chevrolet Trailblazer left the road and struck an embankment.

SONORA, Calif. — A woman died Saturday after a roll-over crash near Sonora.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Delores Natalia, 66 of Sonora, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound on Rawhide Road, north of Rimrock Road, when it left the roadway, hit an embankment and overturned.

Officers said Natalia was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV. The Trailblazer came to a rest on its roof, CHP said.

First responders arrived and tried to save her life, but Natalia was eventually pronounced dead at the scene. Natalia’s passenger, a 91-year-old woman, was left with moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.

CHP said Monday the crash is still under investigation, and it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
