SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A 55-hour closure will be in effect for three connector ramps on Interstate 5 and Interstate 80 this weekend.
Caltrans says crews will be pouring concrete and doing striping on southbound I-5 and eastbound I-80. The closure begins Friday at 10 p.m. and is expected to last until 5 a.m. on Monday.
Ramps closed:
- Southbound I-5 to eastbound I-80
- Southbound I-5 to westbound I-80
- Eastbound I-80 to northbound I-5


Detours:
- To get from eastbound I-80 to northbound I-5
- Detour at Truxel Road
- To get from southbound I-5 to I-80
- Detour to Garden Highway
The closure inconveniencing thousands of drivers as many race to avoid it one way or another.
"Oh, wow. That is going to be a problem for a lot of commuters coming from Woodland or Yuba City," said Cruz Whitford, who uses the ramps most days.
Some drivers ABC10 spoke with say they are going to avoid the area all together, but many expressed as inconvenient as it can be, they are glad it is only temporary.
“It has been needed to be done for a very long time," said Ron Waterlyn, who uses the ramps for work across the Sacramento valley and Bay Area. "We all have to be patient.”
