Sacramento Weather Forecast

Breezy and warm weather to end the work week. Much cooler and showery weather arrives Saturday.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — Dry, warm winds continue through the end of the work week. This will keep temperatures in the 80s Thursday and Friday. Wind gusts will be below advisory criteria but still be near 25-35mph.

The warm weather comes to a sharp end this weekend as a cold weather system approaches. Weather forecast models are coming into more agreement we'll have showers and highs cooling into the 60s with rain chances on Saturday.  At this point the rain looks steady and starting early. There's a slight chance of thunderstorms as well during the afternoon.

The Sierra will also see a mix of rain and snow. Snow level Saturday will be near 8000 feet but then drop to 4000 feet during the evening into early Sunday. Travel in the Sierra may be delayed with slippery and changing conditions developing through the beginning of the weekend.

The Eta Aquariids meteor shower will be hitting its peak this weekend. Best viewing will be on Sunday with the clearing skies and dark skies as we approach the new moon phase.

THURSDAY MORNING: Clear and breezy with lows in the 50s. Sierra lows in the 20s. Winds decreasing. 

THURSDAY: Sunny and breezy with highs in the lower 80s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 60s.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny with highs in the lower 80s. Lake Tahoe highs in the mid-60s.

SATURDAY: Rain with highs dropping to the lower 60s. Lake Tahoe highs in the upper 40s with rain and snow. 

SUNDAY: Clearing skies with highs in the upper 60s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 40s. Snow level in the morning down to near 4000 feet.

MONDAY: Sunny with highs in the lower 70s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 50s.

TUESDAY: Sunny with highs in the mid-70s. Lake Tahoe highs in the mid-50s.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny with highs near 80°. Lake Tahoe highs in the upper 50s.
