Five Sacramento region organizations receive 2024 TEGNA Foundation Community Grant

SACRAMENTO, Calif — ABC10 announced five local nonprofits as the recipients of 2024 TEGNA Foundation Community Grants in the Greater Sacramento region.

The annual awards program is designed to recognize and applaud deserving organizations for their efforts to positively impact the community. ABC10 presented each of the five nonprofits with $5,000 grants during a special reception May 15.

The 2024 TEGNA Foundation Community Grant local awardees include the following:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Sacramento Area – Ignites potential in children and youth through strong and enduring, professionally supported one‐to‐one relationships that change lives forever. 
  • Opening Doors, Inc. – Stands with immigrants, refugees and survivors of trafficking as they pursue their right to stability, self-sufficiency and belonging in order to build the lives they deserve and an even stronger Northern California for everyone. 
  • WEforce of California, Inc. – Supports marginalized populations by offering assistance in navigating barriers for positive sustainable outcomes. 
  • Center for Post Traumatic Growth – Promotes and supports the healing of veterans, first responders and their families from Moral Injury and Post Traumatic Stress. 
  • The Sacramento Children's Home – Committed to helping children by providing high-quality care to the Sacramento region’s most vulnerable children and families since 1867.

“It was an absolute privilege to help present the 2024 TEGNA Foundation Community Grant awards on behalf of our parent company,” said Risa Omega, President & General Manager of ABC10. “These award recipients are all committed to supporting and uplifting community members struggling to overcome hardship, adversity, and trauma in their lives. We recognize the amazing impact they are making in the lives of individuals in need while also helping to build a more successful future for our region as a whole.”
