Sacramento Weather Forecast

Warming from the 70s to the 80s this week, but we'll also see breezy north winds for the first half of it.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — Warm temperatures and sunny conditions all weekend long. We made into the middle 70s across the valley on Saturday afternoon with sunny skies. We officially hit 75° in Downtown Sacramento, 74° at Executive, 75° in Stockton, and 74° in Modesto.

Sunday will be similar, although temperatures around the region will be a touch warmer with highs climbing into the upper 70s in the valley, upper 60s and low 70s in the foothills, and upper 50s in the Sierra. Abundant sunshine and blue skies.

Forecast highs around Northern California on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

We'll see a bit of a Delta breeze develop this evening, but otherwise not much in the way of wind today.

Monday and Tuesday will see a north wind develop late morning into early afternoon, with gusts both days up to about 20 mph, stronger in the northern Sacramento Valley but strongest along the coast where gusts could reach 40 mph.

A low pressure system drops into the Great Basin on Wednesday, which will create a tighter pressure gradient with the high pressure to our southwest. This means stronger north winds across the region, but fire danger remains low thanks to the cool and wet weather we've had recently.

Breezy northerly winds are expected across the valley on Monday afternoon, with stronger north winds in the Coastal Range and along the coast.

We'll undergo a gradual warming trend through the workweek, with afternoon highs climbing into the low 80s by midweek and even some middle 80s. Next weekend is looking like a repeat of this one, with highs cooling off into the 70s as we head into the weekend.

We're wrapping up the month of April on a very seasonal note with highs near 80°.

There are still no 90° days in the forecast despite us coming up on our average first 90° day. Typically, over the last 30 years in Downtown Sacramento, we see our first 90° day on May 2nd. However, there's no real indications of hot days in the near term, as the weather pattern keeps high pressure from sitting overhead for any extended period of time.

The warmer days will come, but they aren't here just yet!
