STOCKTON, Calif. — Gabriel Porras is a Multi-Skilled Journalist covering the valley and foothills from ABC10's Stockton Bureau.
Born and raised in San Joaquin County, Gabriel calls Stockton home and is thrilled to tell his community's stories for one of the stations he grew up watching.
He graduated from Lincoln High School and continued his education at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Gabriel began his on-air work early on, appearing as a "kid reporter" and "kid anchor" on several news stations in the Sacramento market as young as 12-years-old.
In 2016, Gabriel launched SCW News, a social media news site allowing him to cover news stories from the San Joaquin County area every day. On the news page, he produced, anchored and edited the city's only Stockton-devoted newscast every day for three years.
In 2019, while still reporting in Stockton, he added Amador and Calaveras counties to his coverage by working as a multi-media journalist at the Amador Ledger Dispatch in Jackson.
After spending time at Arizona State in Phoenix, Gabriel returned home (and to much better weather) in 2021.
He began working for ABC10 as a production assistant, eventually taking on several roles from digital producing and assignment editing to photography and video editing.
When not on the streets of San Joaquin County covering breaking news or telling compelling stories, you can find him out with friends, family, hiking in the Calaveras County area or watching a Stockton Ports game.
