BUFFALO, N.Y. — Dogs want to go trick-or-treating too and now there's a Halloween gathering perfect for your furry friends.

The Allentown small business community is planning a Halloween Pup Strut on Saturday, October 26 from noon to 4 p.m. Dogs and their families can stroll down Allen Street and trick-or-treat at each small business stop.

Participating businesses will have treats for both the kiddos and pups as well as photo-ops and specialty menu items.

There will also be a costume contest for the best dressed pup. Categories include 'spookiest pup,' 'most creative costume,' and 'best best and owner duo.' The winners will receive gift cars to local shops.

“We’re excited to bring the community together for this fun and festive event,” co-owner of Buffalo Barkery Maggie Lamparelli said. “The Halloween Pup Strut is a great opportunity for pet lovers to celebrate the season with their furry friends while supporting local businesses.”

Participants will be able to check in at Buffalo Barkery located at 47 Allen Street any time between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Registration is $10 which will be donated to the Shop Allen Street Block Club to help support community activities and initiatives along Allen Street and the surrounding neighborhood.

Participants will also receive a tote bag filled with goodies and a map of the participant businesses in the event.

"I'm thrilled to see the Halloween Pup Strut bring our community together in such a vibrant way,” President of the Shop Allen Street Block Club  Barrett Schwalenberg said. “This event not only celebrates our love for dogs but also highlights the incredible diversity of Allentown's local boutiques, galleries, and restaurants. It's a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors alike to explore and support our brick-and-mortar small businesses, reinforcing the unique charm and creativity that defines our neighborhood."
