SACRAMENTO, Calif — Sacramento's Greta Gerwig and her billion-dollar blockbuster hit "Barbie" had eight nominations at the 2024 Oscars, but they came up short in all but one category.
The movie was in contention for Costume Design, Best Original Song, Production Design, Adapted Screen Play and Best Picture. Its only win was for the Billie Eilish song "What Was I Made For." It was Eilish's second Oscar, winning in 2022 for "No Time to Die."
Notably, America Ferrera lost Best Supporting Actress to Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Ryan Gosling's performance wasn't "Kenough" to stop Robert Downey Jr.'s first Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor.
However, one of the big highlights of the night was Gosling's performance of "I'm Just Ken," which featured a guest appearance from iconic Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash.
