SACRAMENTO, Calif. — TLC fans looking forward to singing along to "No Scrubs" Sunday and Tuesday nights at the California State Fair and Stanislaus County Fair, respectively, will have to wait until the next time the duo is back in Northern California.
Their performances were canceled due to an illness, according to a press release from the fair.
“Unfortunately due to Chilli losing her voice, TLC must cancel their appearance tonight at the California State Fair," TLC's concert management said in the press release. "They were very much looking forward to performing at the State Fair this year and hope to see everyone soon.”
Anyone who paid for Reserved Seats for Sunday night’s original lineup at the State Fair will be automatically refunded.
But the show must go on. R&B and funk singer Eric ‘EQ’ Young, who is well known for his slap bass, will perform in TLC's place. Their performance at the Stanislaus County Fair will be replaced by R&B group "En Vogue."
“We are very disappointed TLC canceled, especially because the community was extremely excited for the show. We know this is always a possibility in our line of business,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “We are still very excited to have En Vogue replacing them. We wish Chilli from TLC a fast recovery from losing her voice.”
The California State Fair Toyota Concert Series is free, although guests can pay a nominal amount to reserve a guaranteed seat close to the stage. The concert series features Sean Kingston, Tony! Toni! Tone! and Clay Walker, and more. Closing weekend features Country songstress, Martina McBride.
