Some theatres are choosing to refuse admission to R-Rated movies to kids younger than six-years-old. Others are just opting to ban those kids after 6 p.m.
The Hollywood Reporter cites Regal Entertainment CEO Amy Miles as saying the move is about creating the best environment for "minimal interruptions during R-rated movies."
"We best achieve this through controlling the number of children in these films."
Regal Entertainments is one of the largest movie theatre chains in the country. They opted to ban kids younger than six from all R-Rated movies. Other companies like Cinemark and AMC have started enforcing what is know in the industry as "No 6 after 6," policies, meaning kids under the age of six cannot attend R-Rated movies that begin after 6 p.m.
According to the THR article, Texas-based theater chain Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is leading the trend aimed at providing a better environment for adults to watch adult movies.
