They're adorned with ribbons, flowers and all the bells and whistles. Blue and gold mums made homecoming weekend even more spirited for students at O'Connor High School, in Helotes, Texas.
Cheerleaders at the high school spread homecoming spirit to their alternative learning peers Friday.
Per tradition, they made mums and handed them out to the ALE classes.
Junior McKenzie Balero said her sister started the tradition of handing out mums a few years ago, and students want to carry it on.
They call it "Mums For Friends."
Many students wore more than one mum, and a service dog even showed off his homecoming spirit.
"We loved seeing how happy they were and how excited they were... Homecoming only comes once a year," senior Isabel Alcaraz said.
McKenzie and Isabel said they also challenge other area students to do the same thing and make sure everyone is included in homecoming festivities.
