17 snakes found and removed from old barn in Auburn

Placer Snake Removal said it's the most snakes they've ever removed from a single site, usually dealing with around 5 for a removal.

AUBURN, Calif. — 17 rattlesnakes were removed from an old barn in Auburn.

Placer Snake Removal said the snakes were found under a collapsed decade-old barn's old sheet metal roof.

In total, 17 snakes were removed, including 5 adults, 10 neonates and a couple of younger snakes around one or two years old, the business said.

Tyler from Placer Snake Removal told ABC10 that it's not uncommon to get a call and have to remove a lot of snakes. It happens several times a year, but this job was an exception. A lot for Tyler is generally around five snakes, and this is the first time he's ever had to remove so many.

He said snakes usually separate and head off on their way as they grow, so it's not common to find so many snakes in one place. He thinks some of the snakes moved into the area after the barn collapsed and have likely just returned to the area every year.
