LAKEWOOD, Colo. — One of the newest residents at a Lakewood cat shelter is getting a lot of attention on social media for how he's dealing with being the new cat on the block.
Staff at Cat Care Society in Lakewood said their newest rescue resident, Theodore, was pretty scared when he arrived at the shelter. He immediately found refuge by hiding under a cat bed to roam around and explore.
"He likes his belly rubbed and he's very sweet," said Michelle Duvall from Cat Care Society.
The adoptable cat is being compared to a turtle for the way he scoots around the shelter incognito. To increase his chances of being adopted, the shelter staff found a way to coax him out from under his shell.
He loves the sound of a good tune. Staff started posting videos of Theodore's antics on TikTok, and cat lovers everywhere viewed his videos 2 million times.
"Every day he's just getting braver and braver, so we have this daily video update of him, where is it going to be a turtle day or is it going to be a brave day," Duvall said. "Fortunately, we've had more brave days than we have had turtle days, which is really fun for him."
Because of his video antics going viral, the Cat Care Society said that someone is interested in adopting Theodore. They said his adoption is pending.
The cat shelter reminded everyone that they still have a lot of other great cats ready to be adopted into their new homes.
