May 15 is National Chocolate Chip Day. The only way to celebrate the chocolaty holiday is to eat something with those decadent chips in it!
Now, we know there are a lot of foods that are made better with chocolate chips added to it, such as pancakes, muffins and ice cream, but we decided to focus on a fan favorite: chocolate chip cookies.
So, we, of course, had to find out where the best chocolate chip cookies can be found in Northern California. On Chocolate Chip Day 2019, we took to the ABC10 Facebook page to ask our followers "where do you go to get the best chocolate chip cookies?"
While nothing can beat freshly made cookie from your grandmother's oven, it appears like The Cookie Jar in Elk Grove may give granny a run for her money. Multiple people recommended the cookie shop for chocolate chip cookies, but Michelle Roy made a point to say "they have the best cookies, period." Bold claims, Michelle.
The shop is located on Bruceville Road and opens daily from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Melinda Garcia told us to check out The Upper Crust Baking Company to get a good chocolate chip cookie and a few other goodies. While the bakery is located on G Street in Davis, their goods can be found at many farmers markets around the area, including ones in Placer County, Sacramento County and El Dorado County.
The main bakery location is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check out their website for a full list of farmers market locations.
According to Heather Louise everyone before her is wrong and Sugar Sweetery in Rancho Cordova is the correct answer. Heather is speaking out calorie counting language when she said "every cookie is so worth the calories!" You've got our attention, Heather.
If you are wanting to stop by Sugar Sweetery right away, you will have to wait. The cookies are made to order from the baker's home, also known as the Cabanilla's house. You will need to place your order sooner rather than later, according to the website Sugar Sweetery is booking orders two to three months in advance. Just so you know, National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day is Aug.4 in case you want to celebrate with two dozen delicious cookies.
Last, but certainly not yeast (see what I did there) is The Cookie Tree in Yuba City. This suggestion comes from Maribel Solis and Glynis Buschmann. The website says The Cookie Tree sells "desserts that will dazzle your tastebuds!" If chocolate chip cookies aren't your thing, The Cookie Tree sells tons of different types. So many types that they actually have a "cookie schedule" on their website that breaks down what is made daily. I don't know about you, but I am incredibly interested in their chocolate crackle with nuts, which according to the schedule they make daily.
The Cookie Tree is located at 441 Bridge Street and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
So, there you have it, the best chocolate chip cookies in Northern California! Excluding home-made, of course. Did we miss one? Let us know on the ABC10 Facebook page.
