FOLSOM, Calif. — During the most festive weekend of the year, the Folsom Historic District Ice Rink is closed temporarily because of a mechanical issue.
Ice rink officials say crews worked overnight and they hoped to have the repairs made in time for Friday’s skate sessions, but because of the complexity of the repairs, it is taking longer than it was anticipated.
Initially, the ice rink was supposed to reopen Saturday. Friday evening, the ice rink said the closure was going to be extend to Saturday, December 23 as well.
Officials apologized for the inconvenience and said anyone who bought tickets for Friday and Saturday online should have received an email and a voucher code to reschedule their time on the ice.
Crews are again working overnight to try to make repairs and the ice rink hopes to reopen soon.
If repairs are made in time, the ice rink plans to be open Christmas Day with three sessions: 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
