SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Even on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, residents from Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto find themselves needing to make that quick trip to the grocery or convenience store — but not every place is open.
Your options start winding down on Christmas Eve, and unlike Thanksgiving, many stores including Target, Walmart and Costco will stay closed through Christmas Day.
But if you're looking to make a last-minute purchase in the Northern California area, here are a list of stores open and their modified holiday hours.
Stores open Christmas Day
- 7-Eleven
- CVS
- Dunkin' Donuts
- McDonald's
- Starbucks (hours vary by location; some may be closed)
- Walgreens
Walgreens will be open both days but with limited hours, which are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
FoodMaxx
The supermarket chain will be open until 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, and open until 10 p.m. on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
The following locations will be open Christmas Day until 5 p.m.:

Safeway
This grocery store chain will be open until 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, but only the following locations will be open Christmas Day until 5 p.m.:

- 2851 Del Paso Road, Sacramento
- 6445 Pacific Avenue, Stockton
