The latest outpost of popular local chain Burgers & Brewhouse is now open at 1616 J St. in Midtown. The three-storey establishment, featuring a rooftop patio and two full bars, joins three others in West Sacramento, Downtown Sacramento and Davis.
The Midtown location is also the new home of Burgers & Brewhouse's in-house Sacrament Brewing Co., where head brewer Brendan Megowan will prepare the bar's libations, as the Sacramento Bee reports. These include the Sac-Religious Pale Ale and the flagship Rapture Brown Ale.
On the food menu, look for the spicy guacamole cheeseburger with Niman Ranch beef, housemade guacamole and pepper jack cheese. The varied kinds of fries can be a meal in themselves as well, like the Beast Mode fries covered with melted cheddar cheese, sauteed onions and a housemade red pepper sauce.
With three stars out of fifty-five reviews on Yelp thus far, Burgers & Brewhouse is still finding its way.
Yelper Alex L. called the beers "delicious," adding, "We sampled and then drank multiple pints of everything from the lager to the cider to the India Pale Ale. Each beer true to the style with its own unique twist and none of them so heavy that you feel bloated. All light and refreshing."
However, other Yelpers complained of disorganized service and long wait times, especially for the rooftop area. Reviewer Sharra C. warned, "The lovely rooftop patio has an occupancy limit of 90, which is strictly enforced, via a man at a velvet rope. If you want to get up there, come before the patio opens at 6:30 pm."
