SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Millennials aren’t killing something this time! They are actually saving libraries.
Now you might be thinking, who uses libraries anymore? Well, millennials and a bunch of other people are using them. These people are women, college grads, and people who don’t have a lot of money. It's a list that goes on and on.
Over half of millennials have been to a library in the span of a year. That’s compared with 45 percent of Gen Xers and 43 percent of Baby Boomers, but library usage has also been pretty stagnant since 2013. It hasn't been going up or down, so why are millennials now bringing back the library?
Libraries have a lot to offer millennials. Most millennials still want to rent out books from their public library, but its the digital usage that's growing. People are also going to libraries for internet access and use of their computers.

Plus, libraries are getting access to different new technologies like 3D printers and are offering basic skills courses like coding. More than half of millennials say they’d use those at libraries.
Another reason millennials use libraries? Trust. Over three quarters of millennials find that libraries provide trustworthy information.
Libraries will be here to stay if millennials have anything to say about it!
