Rep. Josh Harder announces $25.8 million grant for San Joaquin County Head Start programs

The San Joaquin County Office of Education will receive $25,818,298.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — Representative Josh Harder (CA-9) announced a nearly $26 million grant for Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

Head Start and Early Head Start are programs that provide comprehensive child development and family support services to infants, toddlers and their families as well as pregnant women and preschool-aged children and their families.

The San Joaquin County Office of Education will receive a total of $25,818,298.

“Ensuring moms-to-be and the families of young children throughout San Joaquin County have the resources they need to help their little ones grow and thrive is a top priority of mine, especially as a new dad,” said Rep. Harder. “I’m proud to announce that we’re bringing home more than $25 million to support expecting parents and the families of young children in our community. This significant funding for Head Start and Early Head Start will help keep the Central Valley a wonderful place to start and raise a family."

Rep. Harder is known to support the Head Start program. Last year, he announced a $17 million grant for Central California Migrant Head Start.

More than $32 million was secured in 2021 for the programs.
