SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento Downtown Commons is welcoming two additions to its shopping complex: a cookie shop and a Mexican restaurant.
Joining the collection of shops, restaurants, movie theater and Golden 1 Center, are Insomnia Cookies, which opened up on Oct. 19, and Polanco Cantina, which opened on Oct. 22.
Insomnia Cookies plans to hold an official grand opening celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The event features a prize wheel with giveaways. The cookie shop will also offer two exclusive deals for the event: a six-pack of traditional cookies for $5 or 12 cookies for $10.
"We are very excited to welcome Insomnia Cookies to DOCO so our valued guests will be able to enjoy even more delectable desserts when they visit our amazing plaza," Christi Woodards, DOCO General Manager, said in a press release.
Insomnia Cookies has a bakery in five cities in California. DOCO's location is the first Insomnia Cookies store within Sacramento.

Polanco Cantina, located on the second level, offers guests views of the DOCO plaza while they enjoy their dinner.
“We are thrilled to welcome Polanco Cantina to the expanding culinary scene at DOCO,” John Rinehart, Sacramento Kings President of Business Operations, said in the press release. “With a central and location overlooking the plaza, Polanco will undoubtedly become a must-visit destination, perfect for diners hungry for a unique view of the crowds and activities happening below.”
Polanco Cantina will offer lunch, dinner and bar service throughout the week. Initially, the restaurant hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 5 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Shortly after opening, the restaurant plans to include lunch and taco truck service with expanded hours.
