Computer systems at California EDD back online after hour-long outage

A legislative branch source confirmed to ABC10 that EDD computer systems are down and that staff was informed on a call at 4 p.m.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — 8:30 p.m. Update:

Computer systems at the California Employment Development Department (EDD) have been restored following a short systems issue.

EDD's computer systems went down around 4 p.m. Tuesday and were back up and online about an hour later.

Computer systems are down at California’s Employment Development Department (EDD).

A legislative branch source confirmed to ABC10 that EDD computer systems are down and that EDD Staff was informed on a call at 4 p.m.

It is unclear what caused the systems to crash or when they will be back online.

This isn’t the first tech-related issue to strike the California unemployment agency. Recently, a “programming infrastructure” problem halted the processing of new payments to approximately 185,000 recipients. Those payments only just started being recertified on Mar. 7.

So far, officials at the department have not commented on the outage.
