SACRAMENTO, Calif. — This is a difficult time on the job front and there are a few ways the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency (SETA) is helping people.
SETA works with a lot of companies and has a list of job seekers that may be a great fit for your business. Currently, there are about 30 organizations recruiting.
“There are a number of government organizations that continue to recruit right now as well, even though we’re in the midst of a downturn,” says Roy Kim, SETA deputy director workforce development.
SETA has a new program called Hospitality to Health. It was created as a partnership with the city and the mayor’s office to help workers laid off in the hospitality and tourism industry find jobs during the pandemic.
“If you’re a barista at a restaurant, and you may be laid off, they hire baristas at senior living facilities to do the same thing," says Terri Carpenter, SETA workforce development manager. She adds. there are "many other career opportunities available if you move into the health care sector.”
There are several other programs through SETA.
SETA’s youth program is trying to fill over 300 slots. They also have another program for individuals with disabilities that has 70 openings.
While SETA may be known for helping on the job front, they also provide financial assistance and help people navigate through their unemployment benefits.
