Original story:
Deputies with the Sutter County Sheriff's Office are investigating a homicide where a man was found shot in a walnut orchard.
Authorities were notified around 8:40 a.m. on Saturday about a person, described as a male, down in a walnut orchard on Meyer's Road, near Ingram Lane.
Arriving deputies found the victim with a gun shot wound to the head, and another deputy found a blue Honda in the area. A reporting party had previously told the sheriff's office that they saw a blue vehicle in the area, but the reporting party was not sure if it was involved in the incident.
The deputy tried to make a felony traffic stop, but the Honda left the area, which lead to a short chase. The blue Honda would eventually lose control and crash in the Pass Road and West Butte Road area.
Deputies took the driver into custody and found a shotgun near the Honda.
The driver's identity has not been released due to the ongoing investigation, and the victim's identity has not been released because it has not yet been postively identified.
