Brian Dahle wins California District 1 Senate race over Kevin Kiley

With 100 percent precincts reporting, Dahle topped Kiley by a final tally of 53.1 percent to 46.9 percent.

California Assemblymen Brian Dahle defeated fellow Republican Assemblyman Kevin Kiley in a special election for California’s vacant District 1 Senate seat.

With 100 percent precincts reporting, Dahle topped Kiley by a final tally of 53.1 percent to 46.9 percent. District 1 covers a large portion of northeastern Californian from the Oregon border to the Lake Tahoe area even into the eastern Sacramento suburbs.

Kiley conceded defeat in a Facebook post just after 11 p.m.

Despite both belonging to the Republican party, the race between Dahle and Kiley was highly contentious, including allegations of doctored photographs, fake endorsements and the bizarre vote-shaming mailer.
