Cannoli on a cheesecake is how Cakes by Jeff the Chef is getting ready for Thanksgiving

"I wanted to bring both worlds together: cannoli and cheesecake. Now, we have a marriage," said Jeff Taylor about his creation.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Thanksgiving isn't just about turkey but dessert, too. Sacramento baker Jeff Taylor is taking desserts to a new level with his cannoli on a cheesecake.

Taylor is the baker behind Cakes by Jeff the Chef, which is at DOCO and seeing brisk business after Kings games.

He showed off his creation Friday on the ABC10 Morning News. Taylor says compared to other cheesecakes, his are creamier and his whipped cream tastes like ice cream.

Here are 3 things you should know:

  1. Why a cannoli? It's more like why not. "I wanted to bring both worlds together: cannoli and cheesecake. Now, we have a marriage," said Taylor.
  2. Jeff has been featured on A&E's Best in Chow and Food Network's Sugar Showdown.
  3. The whip doesn't dip. I was concerned that if I bought one of Jeff's cheesecakes too soon before serving it, it would go flat. Jeff stands by his cakes. "Don't worry about it," he said. "My cream is very stable as you can see here ... the cannoli can sit on the whipped cream and not do anything ... my whipped cream (isn't) going anywhere!"
