Step back in time: Dinos Alive sends guests to Mesozoic Era

Dinos Alive Immersive Experience is an interactive educational exhibit featuring animatronic dinosaurs, sending attendees on a journey through the Jurassic Period.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Dinos Alive Immersive Experience is an educational exhibit that packs the Jurassic Period into 20,000 square feet of space, filled to the brim with over 80 dinosaurs of different breeds.

ABC10's Mark S. Allen went back in time to check out this Jurassic journey.

HERE ARE 3 THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. The dinosaurs aren't real, but they're as close as it gets. The animatronics were made in scale with their real-life counterparts with the input of paleontologists.

"In scale; we scale them up," answered John Zeller, Executive Producer of Dinos Alive. "We worked with paleontologists to create the actual dinosaur size."

  2. On top of animatronics, there is also a virtual reality (VR) experience. According to the Dinos Alive website, the VR experience allows guests to "explore the dense jungles of the Jurassic era and see the dinos in their natural habitat."

  3. The exhibit also features a digital aquarium, which is interactive through the use of video-mapping technology.

"When we say we want to immerse you in the world of dinosaurs, we want to take you to the bottom of the prehistoric ocean," Zeller explained. "All the senses are engaged."
