Feeding the Foothills partners with Denio's to feed over 1,000 people monthly

Feeding the Foothills, formerly known as Placer Food Bank, serves over 1,000 cars through a drive-thru food distribution held at Denio's Market in Roseville.

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Feeding the Foothills holds a drive-thru food distribution at Denio's Farmers Market on the first Friday of each month, often drawing over 1,000 cars of people in need.

HERE ARE 3 THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. Denio's has partnered with Feeding the Foothills for nearly three years, originally coming together in January 2022.

"I appreciate this entity, Feeding the Foothills. They do such a wonderful job," said Eric Denio, Marketing Manager for Denio's and grandson of the founder. "It still amazes me when I see how many individuals come through in these lines and how organized it is and how they can get the food into their vehicles and be on their way."

  2. Feeding the Foothills is no longer "Placer Food Bank," but for good reason. According to Lisa Heinrich, Director of Development and Communications for Feeding the Foothills, the name change is due to the communities served.

"We have been serving El Dorado, Nevada and Placer counties for over 30 years, so we've been the heart of hunger relief there," said Heinrich. "Last year, we actually distributed over 1.6 million pounds of food just through pantry to go but 11.3 million pounds of food for the three counties we serve. 15.4 million meals serving over a million individuals."

Heinrich also mentioned there are many children in need of food.

"There are probably a little over 13,000 children in Placer, El Dorado and Nevada counties that don't know where their next meal is coming from," she explained.

  3. ABC10 is getting in on the action! For the past five years, ABC10 has held its annual Stand Against Hunger campaign, with the ultimate goal being no person goes hungry. This year's campaign starts Wed, Nov 6.
