GoldenSky Festival wraps up 2024 weekend

The GoldenSky Country Music and Beer Festival is tearing down at Discovery Park following a weekend full of music and dancing.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The GoldenSky Country Music and Beer Festival is over after three days of music, dancing, and celebrating some of the biggest names in country music, such as Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, Colbie Caillat, Clint Black, and Shaboozey.

ABC10's Mark S. Allen was able to catch up with the band Moonshine Crazy, as well as with Visit Sacramento's Mike Testa, to learn more about the music-filled weekend at Discovery Park.

HERE ARE 3 THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. Moonshine Crazy is a local country band based out of Sacramento. The band released their first single, "The American Way," back in 2020. Since then, they have won a Sacramento Music Award for "Best Cover Band" and were named "Auburn's Best of the Best Band" in 2022.

"We were just talking about it earlier, just how excited we have been," lead singer Jessica Spaid told Mark. "It's so humbling to be performing on the same stage as Clint Black."

"It's great to see people there that came to see us," said lead guitarist Dave "Shoobie" Shafer. "It's an amazing thing and I don't take it for granted. We are very fortunate people."

  2. Event organizers expected around 75,000 people to attend this year's festival. The festival has seen up to 60,000 people in attendance in past years.

  3. Visit Sacramento is working to keep events like GoldenSky in the city while also working to bring in even more.

"These are the types of events that you want in your city," said Visit Sacramento's Mike Testa. "When you're a capital city like Sacramento, sometimes you're labeled as a government town, a boring Capitol. But when you look at these events that are happening now, we didn't have these events 10 years ago."
