FOLSOM, Calif. — The Folsom Concert Association is holding its 29th concert season, celebrating 31 years of bringing music to the Folsom community. The current season will include performances from acts like the Highland Divas, So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience starring Robert Neary, Vinyl Radio, and country musician and Grand Ole Opry member Mandy Barnett.
ABC10's Mark S. Allen spoke with the President and Vice President of the Folsom Concert Association, Ila Dubin and Jessica Bowman, as well as Barnett herself about the concert series.
HERE ARE 3 THINGS TO KNOW:
- The goal of the Folsom Concert Association is to bring live music to those who may not have the privilege to seek it themselves.
"The concert association was started in 1994 to bring affordable music to the greater Sacramento area," Dubin explained. "The other thing we do is our outreach programs and that's something we are very proud of. We bring live music to people who can't get out to see it." - The concerts will be held at the Harris Center for the Arts in Folsom. According to the center's website, the venue currently hosts more than 400 events a year. The center has won four awards for its impact on the Folsom community and the Greater Sacramento area.
- When asked by Mark why people should attend her show, Barnett said this:
"Because it's going to be a wonderful night in music and it's going to be a great show. You're going to hear a lot of songs that you know and love and it's going to bring back a lot of memories."
Barnett is well-known for her appearances on multiple feature film soundtracks, such as her songs "Beautiful Dreamer" in the 1999 movie "Drop Dead Gorgeous," and "I Only Have Eyes for You" in 2000s "Space Cowboys."
