Director Megan Park and actress Maisy Stella open about up new movie

Director Megan Park and up-and-coming actress Maisy Stella get deep with Mark S. Allen when talking about their upcoming movie "My Old Ass."

"My Old Ass" is a coming-of-age story about an 18-year-old girl (Maisy Stella) who meets her 39-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza) after taking mushrooms in the woods. Mark S. Allen spoke with actress and singer Maisy Stella and Director Megan Park about the raunchy comedy movie.

HERE ARE 3 THINGS TO KNOW:

  1.  It's getting good reviews. The movie has a 91% Critic Score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the score taken from 140 verified critic reviews.

  2. "My Old Ass" is Maisy Stella's first role in a movie, though she was in the television show "Nashville" as character Daphne Conrad. Even though it was her first movie role, Megan Park told Mark about how impressed she was with Stella.

"A lot of moments with Maisy are coming to mind immediately," said Park. "It's funny because the ending monologue, the ending voice note that Old Ass leaves her Young Ass where she's sitting on the toilet listening to it, it was this beautiful one take of Maisy."

"The performance-- I was just chills everywhere," she continued. "It was like the best thing I had ever seen on camera and I kept being like 'this can win this person an Oscar.' It was so good. Then the hard thing was that we ended up having to cut it into pieces because we wanted to cut away to see different moments and it really was hard for me because it was such a 'kill your darlings.' I was like 'but everyone needs to see this three-minute long shot of Maisy because the performance is so incredible.'"

  3. Even though the movie is a coming-of-age story, it's not for kids. "My Old Ass" is rated R by the MPA for inappropriate language, drug use, and sexual material.
