WOODLAND, Calif. — One person is dead and another is in custody after a shooting in Woodland Sunday evening.
Around 7:30 p.m., the Woodland Police Department said officers were called to an apartment complex along the 100 block of West Main Street for reports of a man threatening to shoot another man.
Arriving officers found a person with a gunshot wound and other injuries, who ultimately died at the scene.
According to an update from Woodland police, a 36-year-old man arrived in front of a business complex and made threats to a person inside one of the businesses.
Police said another person, identified as 33-year-old David Manuel Sanchez-Gallardo, drove into the complex and hit the man. Police said Sanchez-Gallardo then shot the man, which eventually resulted in the man dying.
Sanchez-Gallardo was brought into custody and ultimately arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police said a gun was recovered at the scene, and the man who was shot to death wasn't armed at the time of the incident.
According to police, the incident was connected to an ongoing dispute between people who knew one another. There is no threat to public safety in connection to the incident.
