Tracy 11-year-old accused of making school threats in text messages

Police forwarded charges for criminal threats to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.

TRACY, Calif. — An 11-year-old could be facing charges in connection with threats made at a Tracy school.

The Tracy Police Department said an 11-year-old student was taken into custody after several text messages about threats of violence at Williams Middle School started circulating among students on Sept. 24.

Police said the 11-year-old was the person responsible for the alleged threats. However, due to the child's age, authorities didn't book them into Juvenile Hall. That being said, police forwarded charges for criminal threats to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.

"As a reminder, these threats are against the law, and anyone making any threats will be disciplined and prosecuted to the highest extent of the law," police said on Facebook.
